You can be part of the excitement, at the 5th Annual
NZ Syrah Workshop

Bayview Chateau Tongariro, Mt Ruapehu

Thursday 12th (midday) to Saturday 14th February 2009 (early afternoon)

Join together with fellow winemakers and growers to taste, discuss and evaluate recent finished vintages and current barrel samples in a collegial environment with the aim of improving the understanding of the Syrah variety, in the absence of the wine media. Flights of international wines will be tasted and commented upon.

Tim Kirk, Clonakilla, NSW Australia, has recently been named Penguin Wine Guide Winemaker of the Year 2009 and is our special international presenter at the workshop. Tim is an inspiring speaker with a depth of knowledge on perfecting a cool climate Syrah. His presentation will include a vertical tasting and discussion.

Bob McDavitt, MetService Weather Ambassador, has been a meteorologist since 1975 forecasting for marine, aviation and general media, and will communicate awareness about incoming weather events and reading between the isobars.

A vertical tasting and panel session on wine making techniques for early drinking and ageing styles will include John Hancock - Trinity Hill, Neil McCallum - Dry River, Tony Robb - Corbans and Tim Kirk - Clonakilla, Australia.
