New Driver Behind The Wheel
Tangible Media is delighted to announce the appointment of David Linklater to the role of Editor on a relaunched DRIVER magazine.
April will see the publication of a completely revamped DRIVER with a new design, a new focus, new content and a new editor.
This latest incarnation of the magazine will have surely the strongest motoring editorial line-up in the country: Linklater as Editor, former Editor Allan Dick as Editor at Large, Damien O'Carroll as Assistant Editor and Jono Lester as Sports Editor.
“David is both a car person and a magazine person. He has a passion for both that makes me feel secure that he will take DRIVER to new heights,” says Allan Dick.
Linklater has been a motoring writer for 15 years. He started working for what was then New Zealand's only true glossy motoring monthly, AutoNews, while still studying postgraduate English at Otago University.
When Allan Dick left AutoNews to start Driver at the end of 1994, David went with him. David graduated from Otago University with an Mlitt in 1996 and moved to another local motoring title, Autocar, in the same year.
In 1997 he left to pursue a career in motoring journalism in Great Britain. David worked on a variety of Haymarket Publishing titles, including What Car?, Autosport and Motoring News, before securing the position of production editor at the UK edition of Autocar.
David returned to New Zealand in 2000 and commenced a successful freelance career. Since then he has contributed to or edited titles as diverse as the XtraMSN/Yahoo! Motoring website, Herald On Sunday newspaper, Top Gear New Zealand, Driver, and most recently Car.
David is a former Qantas Media Award winner and has been selected to serve on the judging panel for the AA Motoring Excellence Awards three times.
Tangible publishes Classic Driver, Driver, Dish, NZ Fishing World, NZ Rugby World, NZ Today, Real Groove, The Groove Guide and Top Gear NZ, as well as customer magazines for brands like Air New Zealand, NZ Retailers Association, NZ Trade & Enterprise and Resene Paints.
