Business continuity specialist Plan-b opens Wellington office

Business continuity specialist Plan-b, who has been active in Auckland for over ten years, is extending its services to businesses and organisations in the Wellington region for the first time.

Plan-b is New Zealand’s largest dedicated business continuity company, providing contingency services to over 500 organisations in New Zealand and Australia.

Plan-b began trading as a division of AS Information Solutions in the 1990s and was formally incorporated as Business Continuity New Zealand in 1999, renaming to Plan-b in 2003. Last year, the National Business Review named Plan-b among its top ten exciting computer services companies to watch. The company already has customer facilities and offices in three Auckland locations, in Hamilton and now also in Wellington.

A well-known figure in the Wellington ICT industry, Paul Webb, has been appointed to head up Plan-b’s office in the capital. Webb holds an MBA from Massey University and has over 25 years industry experience, most recently at IBM and Fujitsu.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Plan-b and the Wellington region, because nobody else is offering a full range of services dedicated to business continuity,” says Webb.

Apart from a range of data backup services and crisis response advice, Plan-b offers contingency office facilities.

“Flooding, fire, a server outage… there are a hundred reasons why an office may be out of action or out of reach. If this happens, our clients can simply call Plan-b and be set up in a fully equipped office within the hour,” says Webb.

For the moment, one of Plan-b’s mobile office facilities will be deployed in Wellington, but the company will have a full-time contingency office facility in the city within six months.
