New Zealand’s Natural Beauty a Winner

PRESS RELEASE

New Zealand’s Natural Beauty a Winner

9 March 2009: New Zealand’s natural beauty swept away the judges at AIME, Australia’s biggest convention and incentive trade show.

The New Zealand stand, complete with its authentic New Zealand styling of natural wood, sisal flooring, native plants and 100% Pure New Zealand branding, scooped the award for the Best Multi Exhibitor Stand.

“Our goal was to reflect a space that projected the natural beauty of the country and the stand did it really well,” says Sharon Auld, Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) Manager Australia. “This is only the second year that the New Zealand industry has consolidated under one banner and I was very proud to accept the award on behalf of the industry and the 19 New Zealand suppliers we represented.”

AIME attracts a large local Australian audience of more than 2,000 trade buyers and a strong global attendance through its hosted buyer programme.

“It’s an important event and an opportunity for New Zealand to show its multi-talented face and C&I offerings. Australia is a huge potential C&I market sitting on New Zealand’s doorstep and is even more appealing for Australian corporates with its close proximity and favourable exchange rate,” Ms Auld says.

“New Zealand’s presence at AIME was very positive as more and more companies seriously look at their options at destinations closer to home. While long haul travel destinations are suffering, New Zealand is in a good position to leverage the opportunities available in the Australian market.”

Ms Auld says that AIME offered the opportunity to connect with customers who had already booked business into New Zealand over the coming 12-18 months.

“The CINZ stand generated a lot of interest in general information, particularly the Hosted Buyer programme for MEETINGS 2009, and Heidi Heming, BDM Australia has been busy following up on all the requests for information the show generated.”

Ms Auld adds that the event provided the perfect platform to market New Zealand under the world renown brand of ‘100% Pure New Zealand’.

“AIME is an important event for New Zealand – it shows we are committed to servicing our largest source international market (Australia) for C&I arrivals,” she says.

The next big event on the C&I calendar is MEETINGS 2009 in Auckland on July 21, 22 and 23.
