Telecom Appoints Wayne Peat As Group HR Director

Telecom has today announced that it has appointed Wayne Peat as its Group Human Resources Director, effective from the end of May 2009.

Mr Peat, who has been based in Singapore since 2001, has more than 25 years of experience in consulting and senior management in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the UK.

His most recent role was Vice President and Partner for IBM’s Human Capital Management Practice, with responsibility for the development and delivery of effective HR solutions for clients across 130 countries, in six key growth markets, leading a team of around 300 consultants.

“Wayne has proven ability to drive transformation agendas in large, complex organisations like Telecom,” said Paul Reynolds, CEO Telecom New Zealand.

“He is a world class HR practitioner and his track record shows consistent success in maximising organisational effectiveness by aligning business and people goals.”

Wayne’s clients in IBM’s Human Capital Management Practice have included major companies in telecommunications, oil and gas, financial services, industrial services, public sector, hospitality and IT services.

Prior to his roles at IBM, Mr Peat led and developed the Human Capital Management practice for Mercer HR Consulting in both New Zealand and Singapore, having moved to Singapore from Auckland with Mercer in 2001.

“Wayne’s appointment brings yet another kiwi back to New Zealand with Telecom, and I am delighted to have secured the services of a world class, internationally-proven executive,” said Dr Reynolds.

“Telecom is one of New Zealand’s most important and valuable businesses,” said Mr Peat.

“As a proud New Zealander, I’m excited at the prospect of making a significant contribution to Telecom’s ongoing transformation.”
