Dealmakers named finalists in law awards
New Zealand Dealmakers named finalists
in prestigious
Australasian Law Awards.
17 April 2009: Simpson
Grierson is delighted to be named a finalist in three
categories at the Macquarie ALB Australasian Law Awards
2009, to be held in Sydney on May 21 2009. The firm has the
only New Zealand deal in the highly-anticipated 'M&A Deal of
the Year' award category.
Simpson Grierson's place as a M&A Deal of the Year finalist was secured by acting for the Australian owned Toll NZ on the sale of the New Zealand national rail business back to the Crown – a highly publicised transaction valued at over NZ $700 million.
Simpson Grierson's lead partner on the Toll deal, Kevin Jaffe, is nominated for the 'New Zealand Dealmaker of the Year' award, while he and partners Peter Hinton, Shelley Cave, Rob McLean and Michael Pollard are also nominated for 'New Zealand Deal Team of the Year'.
"2008 was a strong year for Simpson Grierson and, in particular, M&A transactions, said Kevin Jaffe, Head of Corporate/Commercial. "We are pleased to have the only New Zealand deal in the 'M&A Deal of the Year' award category and for our people to be recognised."
Organised annually
by Asia-Pacific's leading magazine for legal professionals,
the Macquarie ALB Australasian Law Awards 2009 recognise and
promote outstanding professional achievement and some of the
best legal work of the year throughout the region. Once
nominations and an independent judging process are
completed, the identities of the winners remain confidential
until the Awards ceremony, held at the Westin Sydney Hotel,
Sydney, on May 21
2009.
