Wotif Travel Insight highlights travel habits

BRISBANE – 1 May 2009: Kiwis are still planning to holiday as they always have and say they are balancing their work and personal lives to do so, according to the Wotif.com Travel Insight survey*.

Despite the doom and gloom, more than 70% of respondents said they’ll holiday as they always have and don’t intend to curb their holiday habits as a result of tightening economic conditions.

This was higher than the 60% of Australians who said they’ll still holiday the same.

Of those Kiwis who will change their habits, 23% indicated they will now take more frequent, but shorter, breaks.

More than half (52%) of the respondents said they take all of their allocated annual leave and not surprisingly, 67% of people said they wish they took more annual leave.

Only 1% said they are not taking any leave at all.

“From what we can see, people are still opting to take a break, have some time off and take advantage of the great deals on offer at the moment,” said Megan Magill, Wotif.com General Manager Brand.

“Our hotels are offering great deals and value-added inclusions and when you team these with the domestic and international air fares on sale at the moment, there are some fantastic bargains for those who plan on getting away.”
