Agrojet achieves new Qualmark Enviro status

Rotorua's Agrojet has taken its commitment to the environment to a whole new level, becoming the only jet boat company in New Zealand to achieve a Qualmark Enviro-bronze accreditation.

The Qualmark Enviro-bronze accreditation means the Agrojet operation has achieved sound environmental principles within its operation.

The Enviro standards are an extension of Qualmark's quality accreditation system.

Agrojet operations manager, Jason Trask, says the company is proud of its new achievement and its efforts to integrate environmentally responsible activities into day-to-day operations.

"Our mission is to protect our environment, and to be cleaner, greener and safer. Obviously we are a jet boat operation and that has its own challenges in terms of operating efficiently and environmentally responsibly.

"We are committed to the management of all aspects of our business in a manner that is sustainable - financially, socially and environmentally."

Mr Trask says Agrojet's goal is to be the most environmentally friendly jet boat operation in New Zealand - if not the world.

Agrojet has new environmentally friendly four star ultra low emission engines, and these, combined with its self-contained, purpose-built water course, means the company is on-track to achieve its goals.

Mr Trask says environmental awareness is important not just in terms of operating sustainably, but also in terms of the perceptions of the company, and particularly for its marketing and branding internationally.

"Regions such as Europe have stringent restrictions on the use of waterways for boating activities, and our new Qualmark rating will help us gain further traction in this important market."

Agrojet is New Zealand's fastest adventure tourism jet boat operation, and has been operating at Rotorua's Agrodome since 1998.

In just eleven years the company has hosted more than 140,000 visitors on its jet boat trips, and it was recently highlighted in Air New Zealand's inflight magazine as one of the ten best jet boat rides in New Zealand.

The company aims to expand internationally within the next two years.

Agrojet New Zealands fastest jet boat operation located at Agroventures, is also the home of Rotorua Bungy and Swoop, Freefall Xtreme and Schweeb which are all Qualmark endorsed activities.
