Qantas highlights Queenstown with a summer flight

Qantas highlights Queenstown with another summer flight

Qantas is ramping up its summer flight schedule and support into Queenstown by adding another service on the Sydney-Queenstown route.

The extra Sunday service will roll out from December 20, 2009 until February 14, 2010 alongside the two Sydney-Queenstown services operating year round on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Destination Queenstown CEO Stephen Pahl said it’s fantastic news for Queenstown tourism and Australian holidaymakers, and demonstrates Qantas’ ongoing support and commitment to the Queenstown destination.

“An additional Qantas service will complement our first ever integrated marketing campaign into Australia during summer,” he said.
“We want Australians to start thinking of Queenstown as more than a winter destination and encourage them to come back and have a stunning lake and alpine summer holiday here.”

Mr Pahl said having increased trans-Tasman capacity into the resort only makes Queenstown more appealing and accessible to Australians.

Air New Zealand also announced additions to its Tasman schedule into and out of the resort at last month’s American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Forum.
Air NZ will trial a weekly Brisbane-Queenstown service during the peak summer months, from mid-December to the end of January in addition to its trans-Tasman routes.

Pacific Blue enters the Queenstown market on September 5, with Sydney to Queenstown services on Saturdays and Tuesdays.
