Vodafone welcomes
2degrees
Vodafone has welcomed new network operators 2degrees into the New Zealand market and recognised the benefits another new player will provide.
Marketing Director Mark Rushworth says that competition is always good for consumers and the new player brings the number of mobile options for Kiwis to nine*.
“Vodafone knows the public and regulators want to have choices in the mobile market and there is now more competition than ever before in New Zealand.
“More competition means we must continually show we’re offering great value and service to our customers and we are well positioned and eager to meet the challenge,” says Rushworth.
On average Vodafone customers pay 55% less for calls and 75% less to TXT than they did four years ago.
“At the same time voice calls have grown 74% and TXT 250%. This is part of Vodafone’s approach of growing the market by encouraging more activity at lower prices,” says Rushworth.
Bundles and deals also provide extensive value, and Vodafone believes it can do a much better job at communicating the value on offer.
“Prepay customers with a Best Mate, for instance, get an average of $375 worth of calls and TXTs for $6,” says Rushworth.
Offers such as TXT600 allow Vodafone
customers to get up to $120 of TXTing to any network for
$12.95, while the $2 for 60 minute overseas calling option
results in customers paying an average of 14c per minute to
call 15 top overseas
destinations.
