Expedia.co.nz waves goodbye to flight booking fees

MEDIA RELEASE

Expedia.co.nz waves goodbye to flight booking fees: book now and save money
Expedia.co.nz puts the traveller first and waives booking fees on flights

Auckland, 03 September 2009: If you’re thinking about booking a flight, there’s never been a better time. Expedia, Inc., the world’s leading online travel company and operator of the Expedia.co.nz website, today announced it has removed booking fees on all flights booked through Expedia.co.nz until 18 October 2009.

Currently, travellers may be charged flight booking fees of more than $50 on other travel websites, but Expedia® is changing the game by waiving the flight booking fees on Expedia.co.nz until midnight on 18 October.

That’s not all. New Zealanders also have the opportunity to help make the waiver of flight booking fees permanent - if 200,000 people visit Expedia.co.nz between now and 18 October 2009, flight booking fees will be dropped for good when booking on Expedia.co.nz. That’s power to the people!

This will make Expedia.co.nz the first online travel website to bring an end to flight booking fees in New Zealand on all flights - domestic, international and intra-regional (i.e. flights between overseas destinations).

“Expedia’s aim is to be the single best place to plan and book travel. This is all part of the commitment to put the traveller first in everything we do,” said Louise Crompton, Marketing Manager for Expedia.co.nz. Ms Crompton said the time was right to remove flight booking fees on Expedia.co.nz. “Expedia has done this already in relation to the localised websites for other countries like the US and Canada, and customers have welcomed this with open arms. Now Kiwis can enjoy the same benefit and save money when booking their flights through Expedia.co.nz,” she said.

Ms Crompton said also that Expedia is so confident in their international flight offering that they stand by their Expedia Price Promise, which promises that if Expedia.co.nz customers find a better price for an equivalent airfare on an available Expedia Special Rate (ESR) international flight originating in New Zealand (or with an available ESR hotel), Expedia will beat that price by $1 and give the customer a $50 coupon for use on their next Expedia.co.nz travel booking. Another reason to book your next trip right now!
