Track conditions improved slightly for the second day, from a slow 8 yesterday to a slow 7 today. The effect of this was evident with 12 horses recording faster times than yesterday's top time of 10.90.

Hamilton-based Dormello Stud again provided the day's speediest time with their brown colt by Duelled at Lot 172 running down in 10.54. He is from the winning Zabeel mare Anthenri and breezed with stablemate Lot 40, a Savabeel colt who recorded the second fastest time of 10.57.

Both Duelled and Savabeel were trained by Graeme Rogerson with Lot 172 representing his sire's oldest progeny while Savabeel's oldest are three-year-olds.

Duelled's racing career saw him finish second in the Group 1 VRC Derby and the winner of the Group 2 MVRC AAMI Vase. He also placed on the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and Group 1 Gloaming Stakes. He will be represented by 12 youngsters in the Sale, to be held at Karaka on 17 November.

Standing at Waikato Stud, the dual Group 1 winner Savabeel is one of only two three-year-olds in the past 20 seasons to win the Group 1 MVRC Cox Plate. As a sire he has three stakes winners to his credit including Group 3 VRC Thoroughbred Stakes winner My Emotion and Listed winners Queen Sabeel and Warrentherooster. A total of 11 progeny of Savabeel are entered in the Sale.
