Jack’s Point Launches Summer Activity Dining

MEDIA RELEASE from Jacks Point
20th October 2009

Jack’s Point Clubhouse Restaurant Launches Summer ‘Activity Dining.’

Jack’s Point is Queenstown’s ultimate playground, and The Clubhouse Restaurant which is its hub launches its summer evening “activity dining” programme on Friday (October 24), with a cruisy jazz evening with celebrated Waiheke Island singer Briar Ross.

Jack’s Point Business Consultant Fleur Caulton says the concept of “activity dining” is all about people getting involved in recreational activities at Jack’s Point and combining it with dining at The Clubhouse on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening.

“We have so many recreational and sporting facilities now at Jack’s Point which particularly appeal to families. Apart from the championship 18 hole golf course there are tennis courts, cricket and other sports grounds, mountain biking and walking trails.”

“While many people already visit Jack’s Point throughout the day for coffee, lunch or snacks we are encouraging locals and visitors to make the most of the long summer evenings and come out in the late afternoon, or even after work, and do some of the activities we are offering out here,” she says. “The Wakatipu Trails Trust’s newly upgraded Jack’s Point track, alongside Lake Wakatipu is on target to open this weekend, and will be a popular option for bikers and walkers to get to the resort”

All the facilities, apart from the golf course, are free to use and mountain bikes are available on site. Children can play safely and are welcome at The Clubhouse Restaurant.

“The whole idea is for people to treat Jack’s Point as their “one stop activity shop,” says Fleur. “ It is a fantastic community facility and a great place for people to spend a day or a half day We have built up a great lunchtime clientele and we now want to extend that to evening dining which will run throughout the summer until Easter.”

“Our dinner menu is casual, simple and unpretentious but reflects the same high standards that we already have a reputation for. It showcases the best of the Central Otago region featuring tasty, organic, freshly prepared food with everything made in-house, including delicious sourdough and ciabatta breads. Our distinctive dish of the day, offered to evening diners, changes daily and we expect it will be a signature item on the menu.”

Locally produced and award winning Amisfield wines are featured along with Moa beer, non-alcoholic organic drinks, fresh teas and coffees.

“Our focus at The Clubhouse Restaurant is to provide an intimate dining experience and on hot summer evenings the perfect place to dine is outdoors on the deck, with its spectacular outlook overlooking Lake Tewa with the Remarkables Mountains in the background. It is definitely a unique experience and we want people to celebrate summer by adopting Jack’s Point as their own personal backyard playground.”
