Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award
Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award
Nominations Open
For 2009
The search is on for an outstanding New Zealand business woman who embodies the values of Veuve Clicquot and its pioneering entrepreneur, Madame Clicquot, as nominations open for New Zealand ’s third annual Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award.
This prestigious international accolade, which was launched in France in 1972, is presented in 18 countries including New Zealand .
Entertainment entrepreneur Julie Christie was the recipient of the inaugural New Zealand award held in April 2008. Fashion and media Entrepreneur Annah Stretton was the recipient of the 2009 award.
Richard Yeomans, General Manager of Veuve Clicquot’s local subsidiary in New Zealand , says the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award celebrates the achievements of a New Zealand business woman who shows characteristics of vision, innovation and risk taking - qualities Madame Clicquot exemplified in leading the early successes of international champagne house Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin.
“ New Zealand is a nation of entrepreneurs and we want people to recognise and nominate business women who display tenacity, entrepreneurial drive, leadership and vision, whether in their own business or as a corporate leader. We’re looking for women who embody the values of Madame Clicquot, women who have taken risks and overcome obstacles in the pursuit of their business success.”
“Equally important to these characteristics, nominations must also take into account corporate social responsibility. Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin recognises the need to incorporate environmental and social initiatives into modern business practice and a strong emphasis will be placed on these areas when considering the winner of the 2010 award.”
As well as the honour of winning the award in New Zealand , the recipient will travel to Champagne , France , to join award winners from around the globe at the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award Forum.
While in France , the winner will christen a vine in her own name and enrol as a Friend of the Widow. Each year thereafter she will receive a gift of La Grande Dame champagne, the company’s tête de cuvée release, produced from vineyards owned by Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin.
The nominator of the successful candidate is not forgotten and will receive six magnums of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut to celebrate.
Nominations for the 2010 award close on Friday 11 December 2009. The winner will be announced at the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award ceremony in Auckland during March 2010.
