Young Enterprise Scheme launches BizHive

Date: 5th November 2009

Young Enterprise Scheme launches BizHive using Northpower’s Fibre Network

Optrix is a small business developed under the Young Enterprise Scheme Technology strand. Our primary intention is to publicize North Power’s Fibre Optic rollout while at the same time designing and developing BizHive with which we intend will utilize this new generation of broadband. BizHive was revealed to the public on October 15th at the Northpower Head Office in Whangarei

The new website offers multi-user video conferencing and a handful of other features. Easy sign-up means users can be utilizing this video chat within minutes without the hassle of installation or fancy equipment.

Representatives from several IT firms attended and showed significant interest. The Minister of Technology Hon Steven Joyce wrote an introductory letter which was read aloud on the day. His encouragement was evident:

“The BizHive website, which will allow high definition videoconferencing between schools and businesses, shows the great opportunities that can come from using ultra-fast broadband capability. It is also an excellent example of the success that New Zealand’s young people can achieve with the support of the industry.”

Overall the product launch was highly successful and was fantastic at demonstrating the benefits of Northland’s massive leap ahead of the other regions in high speed broadband technology.
