NZOG takes over ENSCO-107 rig for Albacore

Nov. 23 (BusinessWire) - New Zealand Oil & Gas Ltd has moved a step closer to beginning its summer drilling campaign, taking over the ENSCO-107 drilling rig last night from the Maari consortium and moving it north to the Albacore-1 prospect.
NZOG plans three exploration wells in previously unexplored PEP38491, northwest of New Plymouth offshore Taranaki, which will be plugged and abandoned for analysis of results.

The rig will arrive over its drilling position in 95 metres of water in the course of the next day, and will drill to a depth of around 2200 metres over a 20 day period.

Participants in Albacore permit are field operator Westech, 50%; NZOG, 40%; and Mighty River Power Gas Investments, 10%.
