Tony Gardner elected chair of the CAANZ Digital Leadership Group.

Media Release 15 December 2009
Communication Agencies Association of New Zealand

The Communication Agencies Association of New Zealand (CAANZ) is pleased to announce that Tony Gardner has been elected chair of the CAANZ Digital Leadership Group (DLG).

Tony is currently the General Manager of Saatchi & Saatchi DGS, Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand's specialist digital and direct agency.

The time is right for New Zealand businesses to make advances in developing digital relationships with customers, and the DLG is well positioned to provide industry leadership on that front, said Tony.

Tony has a wealth of digital experience, having run Publicis Dialog in Sydney for two years before heading to Hong Kong to run Publicis Modem and overseeing its expansion into mainland China. Tony returned to New Zealand and Saatchi & Saatchi in 2008 to build the company’s digital operations.

CAANZ CEO Rick Osborne says Tony brings strong digital insight at both a strategic and creative level, and his understanding of consumer-centric marketing will serve the DLG and the wider industry well.

The DLG was established in 2008 to provide a unified industry voice with the aim of helping New Zealand businesses embrace the digital environment and develop commercial opportunities. The group comprises senior digital leaders drawn from CAANZ members who are exposed to international trends and who are at the forefront of helping clients succeed in the digital marketplace.

Tony will represent the DLG on the CAANZ executive board.
