New manager appointed for SBS Bank Manchester St

New manager appointed for SBS Bank Manchester Street

SBS Bank is delighted to announce the appointment of Nicki Bennett as the new manager of their Manchester Street branch, in Christchurch.

Currently the manager of SBS Bank Hamilton, where she has been based since 2003, Ms Bennett will take up the new position in April.

SBS Bank general manager retail Paul Atkinson said experience, community commitment and sporting prowess would all be welcomed to the role when Ms Bennett joined the Manchester Street team.

“Following on from the tremendous work with SBS Bank in Christchurch over the past seven years by our former manager Mark Reid, we know Nicki will certainly build a strong relationship with her new team, all of their customers and their community sponsorships.

“While Nicki brings excellent experience to the role, it is her huge passion and energy levels for our SBS Bank values that will support her transition to our flagship office in Canterbury,” Mr Atkinson said.

Ms Bennett said she was thrilled to get the appointment and, although born in Rotorua, both her parents were from Southland so it was a bit of a “homecoming to be moving to the Mainland.”

“I will certainly miss the strong relationships I have formed during my seven years in Hamilton but know there are many more fantastic community bonds to pick up and run with when I get to Christchurch.

“The beauty of the people at SBS Bank is that we’re not dissimilar in our interests and community values and I will be able to continue to grow what Mark (Reid) so successfully created during his time here with SBS Bank and the wonderful bustling Christchurch community.”

A former representative netballer, Ms Bennett has more recently been involved with the Waikato Masters Women’s Rowing and her immense community commitment includes her being a trustee for Lifestyle Trust, a disability service provider, a board member for both the Lochiel Golf Club and Hamilton Sports Events Trust and she is currently president elect of the Hamilton Rotary Club.

Prior to joining SBS Bank, she had a 14-year career in the trust and financial services industry, which included roles in branch management in the North Island.

Ms Bennett said she loves the fact that SBS Bank represents integrity, is New Zealand owned and has more than 140 years experience of prudent business management.

“It will be a few weeks of sad farewells here in Hamilton but I will look forward immensely to meeting everyone when I get settled with the Manchester team in Christchurch in April.”
