Diners Club Enhances Tourism Exchange

Diners Club Enhances Tourism Exchange Merchant Offering

Auckland, 2 March 2010: Diners Club New Zealand has signalled its commitment to the tourism sector today by announcing a special partnership with Tourism Exchange New Zealand. Operators participating within the Tourism Exchange will be able to access a competitive group-wide arrangement with Diners Club.

“The Diners Club offer will enable Tourism Exchange participants to access one of the most competitive merchant schemes for the New Zealand tourism industry,” says Chris Hunter, Tourism Exchange CEO. “Given the type of members that hold Diners Club Cards, we see this as being an excellent fit with the tourism operators participating within the Tourism Exchange.”

Diners Club cites a natural alignment with the New Zealand accommodation and tourism sectors. “The Diners Club membership base is characterised by corporate and incentive travel business clients and affluent spenders. These customers travel prolifically, stay longer and generally make larger purchases,” says Brett McVeigh, Diners Club New Zealand Business Development Manager “The alignment with Tourism Exchange New Zealand is ideal, given the relationships that the Exchange holds with operators of all sizes, right across the Tourism sector. We want to ensure that it is as easy as possible for international and domestic travellers to use their preferred forms of payments.”

Current Diners Club merchants can take advantage of the offer as long as they are participants within Tourism Exchange. “Providing there is no globally negotiated Merchant Discount Rate in place, we are happy to make the special Diners Club offer available to merchants as they join the Tourism Exchange. The rate is valid for both Tourism Exchange bookings and offline bookings. The benefits include a competitive Merchant Rate and Pay Terms,” says McVeigh.
