Simpson Grierson dealmakers win big at law awards
Simpson Grierson dealmakers win big at prestigious Australasian law awards.
14 May 2010: The Simpson Grierson corporate team was delighted to win three 'Deal of the Year' awards at the prestigious Macquarie Bank ALB Australasian Law Awards 2010, held in Sydney last night.
The firm was named a joint winner in three deal categories: New Zealand Deal of the Year, for the Fisher & Paykel recapitalisation; M&A Deal of the Year, for the Kirin - Lion Nathan acquisition; and Insolvency & Restructuring Deal of the Year, for the ABC Learning Centres receivership.
This recognition reconfirms Simpson Grierson's dominance of market-leading commercial deals over the last twelve months, as shown by the firm's dominance of the Thomson Reuters and mergermarket legal advisory tables for M&A transactions in 2009. A position Simpson Grierson continues to hold in 2010, as the only New Zealand law firm on the recently released Thomson Reuters tables for the first quarter of 2010. The firm was also named New Zealand Large Law Firm of the Year in 2009.
Simpson Grierson Chairman Kevin Jaffe said the firm's strong international networks and global reputation had made a difference during what was a tough year for many in the global financial crisis.
"Our strong client base together with the depth and breadth of our team's expertise meant we maintained our place at the table for the key deals in 2009. We are delighted with this recognition and would like to congratulate the other firms who played a part in these deals."
