Appointment of Director – John Bongard ONZM

Mr Keith Smith, Chairman of Tourism Holdings Limited, announced today the appointment of Mr John Bongard, ONZM as a Director of the company. John graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Commerce and is most known for his roles at Fisher & Paykel Appliances Ltd.

During an outstanding 36 year career with Fisher and Paykel John performed a variety of roles within the company across most functions, culminating in being appointed Managing Director of Fisher and Paykel Appliances Limited in 2001 and then Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in 2004 through to his departure in 2009.

Throughout his time at Fisher and Paykel in executive leadership roles John was instrumental in the development of new markets, manufacturing expansions and led the global development of the brands as recognised icons.

John is a director of Netball New Zealand and is involved in the New Zeal Foundation focussed on assisting South Auckland youth.

Over the past six months John has been fortunate to have been able to positively address the health issues which became prominent in 2009.

Mr Smith said “with definitive CEO, manufacturing and international operating experience John brings to the Board, skills, experience and a passion for New Zealand that will be well suited to benefiting thl”.
