Millbrook demonstrates confidence in market

Millbrook demonstrates confidence in market with latest development

Queenstown’s five-star Millbrook Resort continues to demonstrate enviable levels of confidence in the property market with the release of its latest development early next month.

In recent months the resort has experienced steady property sales and re-sales and continued enlistment of new members. A total of $10.9m of real estate has been sold at the resort in the first seven months of this calendar year.

With four homes already sold in its last development Coronet Square and others in the pipeline, Millbrook Resort plans to release McEntyre’s Tarn, an exclusive five-home hamlet of single level residences designed by multi-award-winning Mason & Wales Architects.

Located in a sheltered, elevated, and arguably sunniest corner of the resort yet within an easy golf-cart ride to central facilities, the homes boast manicured fairway foreground views over water (a tarn is a small mountain lake) and mountain-top panoramas.

The five cottage-style homes hark back to the simple stone crofts of early settlers in Central Otago, including Irishman McEntyre who founded Ayrburn Farm just to the south of Millbrook in the late 1800s.

The three-bedroom two-bathroom homes have all the charm of a stone cottage, complete with wooden beams and stone fireplace. That’s coupled with the very latest kitchen and bathroom design features, including kitchens by award winning design company Ingrid Geldof Design Ltd.

Interior living is cleverly designed as separate but inter-connectable spaces with easy access to three separate sunny and peaceful outdoor living areas.

As it has done previously, Millbrook is planning to make the homes available exclusively to Millbrook members for a limited time (between September 6 to 20). Any unsold homes will then be offered to the general market.

The homes are situated on freehold parcels of land ranging from 892m2 to 1,194m2 and will be offered for sale in the $1.8m to $2m price range.

Millbrook Property and Development Manager Ben O’Malley said there were a number of options available for each home, such as a loggia, outdoor fireplace, BBQ or spa pool, that determined the final price.

“Millbrook is taking a measured approach to continued development at the resort as demand is still there. If anyone’s considering joining Millbrook then now’s the time, because it will give them ‘first dibs’ at choosing a holiday or second home at McEntyre’s Tarn.

“The price ‘mix’ is very important and the new McEntyre’s Tarn is complementary to what’s already on offer at Millbrook in price points, home design, aspect and lot sizes. These homes sit at a lower price point than the Coronet Square homes and along with their single level design, stone cottage charm and excellent design features we’re confident this will be another stunning Millbrook neighbourhood.”

Following on from the success of the Coronet Square show home, Millbrook is committing to building a McEntyre’s Tarn show home that will open its doors by Easter 2011. The show home will again be furnished by Queenstown interior designer Jean Foster.

“The Coronet Square show home was a huge success,” said Mr O’Malley “Because the market is being more selective, they want to see the product, touch it and try it out for size.

“Buyers are definitely being more discerning. It’s getting harder to ‘sell the dream’ from plans only, but the fact that the Coronet Square show home and others have sold at Millbrook shows that quality developments are still selling.”
