Bosco Connect reaches 20,000 customers
Niche electricity retailer Bosco Connect Ltd is celebrating a big milestone with the business reaching 20,000 customers. Bosco, which services the inner-city Auckland apartment market and - through its Tiny Mighty Power brand - retails in provincial towns, has doubled customer numbers over the past 18 months.
Tiny Mighty Power contributed substantially to this strong growth path. Designed to bring the benefits of a competitive electricity market to smaller New Zealand towns, the brand has used a combination of low prices and a personal, local approach to customer engagement to achieve considerable success, building a residential customer base of more than 8,000 since its launch in late 2009.
General Manager Bryan Dobson says that Bosco Connect Ltd's entrepreneurial culture and a focus on customer engagement has driven the company's growth.
"Our operating model is fundamentally different to other retailers. A good example of this is the bespoke customer management and telephony systems we've developed, which have allowed us to open retail offices in local communities rather than concentrating our people in the main centres.
"We now have a presence on main streets in Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Masterton, Blenheim and Rangiora. This way of operating is a win-win - it helps us to reduce costs while still providing customers with an outstanding experience," says Mr Dobson.
Tiny Mighty Power has 19% share of households in Cambridge and Te Awamutu, has secured market share of 14% in Blenheim and 11% Masterton since launching in these areas less than 8 months ago.
