Whitehaven Collects Medals at NZ International Wine Show

Whitehaven Collects Medals across the Range at NZ International Wine Show 2011

Whitehaven Wine Company has again shown why it deserves its premium label, taking out three gold medals and a pair of silvers at the 2011 NZ International Wine Show.

Using only Marlborough grapes, Whitehaven was rewarded with golds for its Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010, its Marlborough Chardonnay 2009 and its Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2010.

Two special varieties commemorating winery founder, the late Greg White, were recognised with silver medals; the Whitehaven Greg Sauvignon Blanc 2011 and Whitehaven Greg Pinot Noir 2010.

Whitehaven has a well-established record as a producer of top Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and this latest batch of medals comes on the tail of Whitehaven’s Easter Show Trophy for the top Sauvignon Blanc.

“However the range of medals we’ve won at this show illustrates our depth as an established producer – with a growing range of premium wines,” says Whitehaven managing director Sue White.

Whitehaven also produces an acclaimed sweet wine; its Whitehaven Nobel Riesling 2011 received a bronze medal - a terrific result for a wine that had been bottled just days before judging.
