Court orders end Hubbard case

Court orders end Hubbard case

Sept. 9 (BusinessDesk) – All charges against Allan Hubbard, the owner of collapsed South Canterbury Finance Ltd., have been dropped by order of the Timaru District Court, after his death following a car accident near Oamaru last Friday.

“All informations permanently stayed as the defendant is now deceased,” District Court Judge Joanna Maze ordered.

Hubbard, 83, a pillar of the community in Timaru, was facing 50 charges laid by the Serious Fraud Office after he and his 82 year-old wife, Jean, were placed under statutory management by the government. They were to have appeared in court this week to appeal the move.
