NZ’s First Online Income Protection Insurance
Income Protection from Cigna is NZ’s First Online Income Protection Insurance
Cigna New Zealand has today
launched income protection insurance that you can buy
online, making it easier for people to look after their
families if they are unable to work.
Cigna New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Gail Costa said “Income Protection from Cigna is now just a website away, making it more easily accessible than ever.”
“One in three New Zealanders will suffer an illness or injury during their working lives that will take them out of the workplace for three months or more,” Mrs Costa said.
“But most of them won’t have the right insurance cover to protect them. Health insurance will rarely cover loss of income – and in the event of an accident or injury, ACC benefits can be limited. Income Protection can top up ACC and if you have a heart attack, stroke or an illness that means you can’t work – this will be covered too.”
“We’ve removed the barriers to getting insured by letting people choose how to apply, minimizing paperwork, and making the application questions straightforward.”
“A $100 ‘healthy living’ payment rewards anyone who finishes their first year of insurance claim-free.”
“Buying Income Protection insurance online makes it easy to safeguard your family’s standard of living. It takes as little as 5 minutes to sign up at www.cigna.co.nz, so people can join when and where it suits them.”
Income Protection from Cigna will provide a monthly benefit from $1,000 to $10,000, up to a maximum of 75% of gross income. There are no medical questionnaires, and no broker is required.
Plus there is a ‘free look’ period allows for a ‘no questions asked’ refund of premiums if a person decides to cancel their policy within the first 30 days.
“There is a 54% probability that a New Zealander aged 25 today will experience a period of disablement lasting more than 30 days before they turn 65.”
“Cigna has been looking after New Zealanders and their insurance policies for the past 85 years; Income Protection from Cigna is another way to reassure New Zealanders should the unexpected happen,” Mrs Costa said.
