Instant Balances latest update to BNZ’s leading app

Following on from the launch of Mobile NetGuard last month, BNZ has made it even easier for customers to access their account balances.

Instant Balances allows customers to see their account balances in their iPhone and Android apps, without having to login.

BNZ Director Retail Andy Symons says customers expect apps to deliver an experience that is quick and easy to use.

“We were the first bank in New Zealand to offer the full-suite of mobile banking options, and are constantly assessing and evaluating how we can stay ahead in this dynamic frontier. Our new Instant Balances feature is in direct response to what customers told us they wanted from their mobile banking.

“Almost 20% of our internet banking users have logged in using one of the mobile banking options, with this number only set to increase in the years ahead. Login growth is approaching a 300% increase since it was launched which means that more and more of people’s day-to-day banking is now being completed on mobile.”

Last month BNZ announced its mobile NetGuard solution, which made logging in to its mobile banking apps simpler with a New Zealand-first security innovation. Since the launch of Mobile NetGuard monthly logins have nearly tripled, increasing from almost 190,000 in March to 560,000 in May 2012.

Since the launch of its mobile banking services in July 2011, BNZ has seen over 2 million logins and more than $400 million in transactions through the channel. The iPhone app has been downloaded 50,000 times while the Android app has been downloaded 25,000 times.

Key stats:
• Over 2 million logins
• Over $400 million in transactions through the channel to date
• 65% of usage is via native iPhone applications and 20% Android, the remainder is via mobile web
• iPhone downloads to date = over 50,000
• Android downloads to date = over 25,000
• Almost 20% of standard Internet Banking customers have logged in to Mobile services.
