Te Waonui Forest Retreat welcomes new Executive Chef and Restaurant & Bar Manager

In preparation for the coming summer season and high tourist numbers expected on the West Coast of the South Island, Te Waonui Forest Retreat is pleased to welcome new Executive Chef Ian Hird.

Ian has a wealth of international cuisine experience, cooking and creating at some of the finest restaurants in England, from Wishaw to Guernsey to the Channel Islands. He has also catered to guests in the thousands on board cruise liners, yachts and cruise ships.

Ian spent four years in New Zealand between 1997 and 2001, working in Auckland’s Sky Tower and Wellington’s Icon Restaurant at Te Papa. It is with great joy that Ian returns to New Zealand to take up his post at Te Waonui Forest Retreat.

Ian will be joined by Damien Brown, the new Restaurant and Bar Manager. Damien has returned to New Zealand after some time perfecting his skill in some of London’s finest establishments, including the renowned Browns Hotel.
