Finalists in Westpac Rotorua Business Excellence Awards

MEDIA RELEASE 29 August 2012

Hamurana Lodge Finalists in Westpac Rotorua Business Excellence Awards

Hamurana Lodge Boutique Hotel is celebrating its most recent success in achieving finalist status in two categories of the upcoming Westpac Rotorua Business Excellence Awards 2012. Of the three finalists in the Best Hospitality and Attraction Awards Category Hamurana Lodge is the only hospitality contender, alongside two of Rotorua’s major Tourism Attractions, Rotorua Museum and the Agrodome. They have also been named finalists in the Trustpower Customer Service Awards alongside Aislin Hair Studio and Koha Souvenirs. The finalists will give a presentation to all 13 judges on the weekend of September 22 and 23, with the category winners, and Supreme Winner, being announced at a gala dinner at the Energy Events Centre on October 5.

Making the finals is a wonderful achievement for the small dedicated team at Hamurana Lodge. “There are well over 100 accommodation providers and hospitality options within Rotorua, and more than 100 businesses providing visitor experiences, so to make it to the top three of this category is amazing for us, “ says Fred Novella, Hamurana Lodge Boutique Hotel Manager. “Customer service is something that we pride ourselves on, and to have this recognised through the awards process is also very rewarding.”

Rotorua Chamber of Commerce CEO, Roger Gordon, has commented on the very high calibre of entrants this year. “The selection of the category winners and the ultimate winner, the Westpac Business of the Year will be a very difficult choice," he said.

Hamurana Lodge is a grand Tudor-style manor house, built in the 1980s which has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel. Set in 6 hectares of gardens and pasture with friendly animals to welcome the guests, the Lodge can accommodate small groups, or individuals and is the perfect place to enjoy a honeymoon. Since purchasing the property three years ago, owners Fred Novella and Alex Sogno have completed extensive refurbishments and added their own special magic for guests to receive the ultimate hospitality and personal experience tailored to their individual desires.

Fred and Alex bring a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry which they share on an ongoing basis with Hotel properties around the world, through their parent company Global Asset Solutions.

“We are very proud of our staff at Hamurana Lodge Boutique Hotel, and know that this latest success is due to their dedication and commitment to ensuring high service standards and utmost attention to our guests’ comfort and needs,” said Fred. “While we look forward with excitement to the announcement of the Business Awards winners in October we consider our team to have a winning formula and we’ll continue to celebrate that with them, and our guests.”
