NETWORKS SUMMARY for week ending 2 September 2012

ELECTRICITY

The taste of spring continues with mild weather across most of the country. Car v poles were on the increase this week with eight incidents in Auckland (including a car v pillar) and one in Manukau. Faults crews repaired two pillars, a Telecom line, a circuit breaker in Auckland and attended five fires including a car and boat trailer unit that had rolled underneath power lines and caught on fire. In Auckland, fault crews attended an outage when trees brought down power lines in which 257 customers were affected, power was restored that evening.

GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION

We had four third party strikes on our gas distribution network this week including a 100mm PE that was hit by a digger in Hobsonville, a pipe strike in Morrinsville and a contractor removing the concrete footing in a driveway and pulling the gas mains with it. Fault crews also attended a gas isolate for KMART in Hamilton. Fault crews made all sites safe and repaired the equipment. Please take care around our gas network and call 0508 B4 U WORK (248 967) or 0800 B4 U DIG if outside Auckland.
