Strong Sale Across All Categories

Strong Sale Across All Categories

New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s General Manager, Mr John Dawson reports that a much stronger dollar up 2.54 percent on the weighted indicator had a minor role in today’s upward market movement as keen widespread competition ensured firm to dearer levels across all categories.

Merino Fleece was mainly firm when compared with the nominal quotations at the 30 August sale. Halfbred wools also returned generally firm to slightly dearer levels.

Crossbred Fleece and Second Shear rose, in spite of the stronger New Zealand dollar by 2.5 percent.

Oddments were erratic but mainly unchanged.

Competition came from China, Australasian carpet mills, India and the United Kingdom.

The next sale on the 20 September comprises approximately 11,200 bales from the North Island.
