Free Business Seminar - Adding Sustainable Value

March 27,2013

Free Business Seminar - Adding Sustainable Value - Otaki Clean Tech Centre, 3rd April, 10am - 1pm .

Growing a sustainable business advantage

Is your business really ‘future fit’? Do you have a clear strategy to grow your business and cope with potential cost increases for water, carbon, waste and traditional energy supplies? Are you aware of what changing market preferences for more ‘sustainable’ options actually mean for your business?

Top New Zealand companies including Annabel Langbein Media, Fulton Hogan, Livestock Improvement Corp and NZ Pharmaceuticals are ramping-up work on enterprise sustainability, seeing it as critical for business success over the coming years. These household name firms are just a few of the 44 New Zealand businesses who’ve taken part in the Adding Sustainable Value (ASV) business improvement programme.

ASV comes highly recommended. Annabel Langbein Media’s GM, Christine Arden explains, “The ASV framework and tools are highly relevant to today’s complex business environment. The programme has given me a full understanding of what ‘sustainability’ really involves, and how to leverage the opportunity for our brand.”

Launched in 2011, ASV is a leadership programme for businesses that are serious about their sustainability. It provides a tested strategic framework that drives innovation and designs for success, as well as improved business resilience to dynamic market change.

A free seminar at the Otaki Clean Tech Centre is being offered from 10am to 1pm on 3rd April to showcase the ASV approach. It will explain how your profit and costs will inevitably be impacted by sustainability market trends; expose business design criteria that can turn those trends to your advantage; and show how you can build a unique brand story that puts your business ahead.

ASV Programme Manager Simon Harvey says businesses that understand sustainability are cost efficient and able to tap into growing market segments.

“It’s about taking a proper look at your business value proposition to explore what you can do better, and what will work to underpin sustainable business growth. With ASV, you do this with other business leaders using the wisdom of the crowd to solve problems that alone can seem insurmountable. All of our businesses have been delighted with the results.”

ASV is delivered through partnerships between The Natural Step, Otago Polytechnic’s Centre for Sustainable Practice, the Sustainable Business Network and local partners such as Councils, Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development Agencies. The programme runs over 6 months and includes 4 workshops with one-on-one coaching. The Wellington ASV programme kicks-off on 16th April and eligible businesses can qualify for a 50% subsidy on the $3,450 investment through the NZTE voucher scheme.

Completing the course earns an NZQA qualification from Otago Polytechnic. Business entry into the SBN National Awards is also included along with the SBN Get Sustainable Challenge benchmarking process.
