Media Release: 04 July, 2013

Pizza Company Secures Highest Fan Numbers on Facebook

A leading pizza business has topped a report which ranks the Facebook presence of the top company-owned brands by fan numbers.

The Facebook Performance Report found that Australasian-owned company Domino's Pizza had 850,790fans on the social networking site at the time of research in May and June.

On top of these Australian fans, the company has an additional 231,473 others on its New Zealand Facebook page.

The General Manager for Domino's Pizza in NZ, Josh Kilimnik, says the brand's fan growth on social media comes from having genuine conversations with consumers rather than just using Facebook as a marketing tool to promote offers and discounts.

"We use our Facebook page to ensure an ongoing dialogue with our Kiwi consumers, who are increasingly going online to interact with the company," he says.

"We're extremely open and transparent, and engage in two-way conversation."

A recent move to make Domino's Pizza's Chief Executive, Don Meij, available to respond to questions on the company's Facebook page has seen him respond to almost than 2000questions, says Kilimnik.

"It is important to us as a business that we stay connected with our ever-growing customer base," he says.

"By providing this support service in addition to telephone or website support functions we are showing them that we are there to assist them in whatever forum suits them best; at any time."
