Kea appoints Gen-i COO to Global Board

Kea appoints Gen-i COO to Global Board

Kea has added another prominent New Zealand business leader to its Global Board, appointing Gen-i Chief Operating Officer Jo Allison as a Director.
Ms Allison is a respected figure in the New Zealand ICT industry, and will bring over 16 years expertise in senior roles within the Telecom Group to her role on the Board.

Ms Allison has held a variety of leadership roles within Telecom Group, including Telecom Head of Marketing and General Manager of Operations and Marketing, General Manager of Marketing and Strategy, and more recently, Acting CEO, at Telecom’s ICT services division, Gen-i.

Ms Allison says she is thrilled to be able to contribute to New Zealand’s global network through this new role.

“As a passionate New Zealander and a strong believer in the power of a well connected network, I share Kea’s vision in the potential for this country’s expats,” says Ms Allison.

“Having been a part of New Zealand’s expat network while working in London, I have seen the remarkable calibre of Kiwis who fly the flag for this country every day,” she says.

And it is not just the world famous Kiwi innovators and business leaders who are making this impact, says Ms Allison.

“From half way across the globe we tend to see just the tip of the iceberg, particularly those few outstanding and highly visible Kiwis that Kea refers to and works with through its World Class New Zealand network.

“What we may not see is the incredible talent that bubbles just below the surface – a network of over one million people, achieving outstanding things often at the pinnacle of their chosen field.

“Kea is about increasing New Zealand’s international connectedness and, in doing so, helping to connect this network of outstanding New Zealanders for the benefit of the country,” she says.

Kea Global CEO Dr Sue Watson welcomes the appointment and believes Ms Allison adds highly relevant expertise to the Kea Board.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Jo and feels that her contribution to the strategic direction of Kea will be extremely worthwhile.”

“Jo brings with her a skill set and way of thinking that complements our existing directorship, particularly through her extensive knowledge of the ICT industry, an area in which New Zealanders continue to excel on a global stage,” says Dr Watson.

Further to her role at Gen-i, Ms Allison plays an active role in mentoring young women. She is one of few female leaders in a New Zealand ICT company and was one of 16 New Zealand participants in the 2011 Global Women in Leadership Programme.
