Grocery Shopping Becomes So Much Easier

Grocery Shopping Becomes So Much Easier

From today New Zealanders will experience a new way to purchase their household groceries.

Supermarket Online (SO) is a new grocery e-store designed with the customer in mind and a goal of creating a better online shopping experience.

Driving this change of the New Zealand online grocery offering are Kevin and Pia D'Ambros-Smith who started their successful online business Nappies Direct more than 10 years ago.

Pia D'Ambros-Smith says Supermarket Online only sells dry goods, catering to a modern way of shopping.

“Shoppers are time poor and the trend to purchase online is growing1. The website is designed to serve the needs of a customer’s ‘stock-up’ shop; those non-perishable items whose purchase is pre-planned and often make up a large part of the grocery bill.”

“A full shop can be easily done online instead of spending hours battling trollies in a conventional supermarket and fresh food items for weekly consumption can be topped up with a quick visit to a local supplier,” she says.

Pia says the Supermarket Online offering supports the return to shopping locally for everyday food items such as meat, dairy and vegetables.

"Shoppers are placing more importance on knowing where their produce comes from and care about the quality. Whilst most people won't mind someone else picking and packing their toilet cleaner, they don't want them selecting their apples," she says.

Pia says by only supplying dry goods Supermarket Online allows flexibility for its customers, unlike traditional online grocery options which place restrictions on a shopper’s schedule.

"Buying your fresh ingredients online doesn't save time in the end because you have to be home during a certain time to meet the delivery man and pack the milk and meat into the fridge."

"When a Supermarket Online delivery arrives, the shopper doesn't have to be home. We can simply leave the product in a safe place to be bought inside when ready," she says.

Pia says shoppers will be pleased with the familiar ranges offered by Supermarket Online.

“We will be stocking New Zealand's favourite products from trusted brands such as Nestle, Heinz Wattie’s, Colgate and Huggies amongst ranges from at least 10 others,” she says.

The easy to use website is organised by room instead of product category and Kevin says a 'one cart' concept allows their existing Nappies Direct customers to easily tab between the websites so the shopping is done in one payment and one delivery.

“When designing the website we wanted to make the experience as easy and efficient as possible. It made sense to integrate our other online store to save our shoppers time,” he says.

Supermarket Online will provide customers with every day competitive pricing, and importantly a well refined customer memory system which Pia says reflects the personal touch Nappies Direct is already known for.

"Our promotions have been designed for our customers, we treat people the way we want to be treated. Supermarket Online operates with an aim of wowing and delighting our customers," she says.

Supermarket Online ships nationwide and with Kevin and Pia being pioneers of e-commerce in New Zealand with more than 10 years’ in online retailing, they are confident in the standard of service shoppers will enjoy using Supermarket Online.

"We have been safely delivering Kiwi mums their essentials for babies for more than 10 years. We are focused on building a new brand shoppers can trust and love.”

“Our simple and secure payment and delivery processes remove any apprehension shoppers may feel about buying online," says Pia.

Supermarket Online is live from 16 September, buying shoppers across the country extra time to do the things they love, instead of spending hours in a supermarket.
