Green Meadows Beef: Better Quality, Ethically Raised Beef

Green Meadows Beef Proves To Be a Cut above the Rest As Kiwis Demand Better Quality, Ethically Raised Beef

Increasing customer demand has led to even more North Island stores stocking Green Meadows Beef. The ethically raised, 100% grass-fed Angus beef from South Taranaki is now available at the Farro Fresh Mt Wellington store in Auckland, which means Green Meadows Beef cuts, currently scotch fillet steak and premium Angus mince, can now be purchased from all three Farro stores. The recently launched Farm Shop at Gordonton, in the Waikato, has also started stocking the family owned brand.

“Farro received calls from customers asking if they stocked Green Meadows Beef that they decided it made sense to make it available in all three stores,” explains Green Meadows Beef Director, Nick Carey. “It means a great deal to us that Aucklanders have tasted and appreciated the beef, and gone that extra mile to contact their local store. We’re excited about the development and looking forward to bringing our grass-fed Angus beef to even more people.”

Green Meadows Beef has been available at The Farm Shop since 12 September. Gemma McGarry and Tanya Clancy, who founded the business earlier this year, have adopted a farmer’s market model, which allows producers and manufacturers to sell fresh, local produce directly to customers. However, unlike a traditional market, the store is open five days a week, from Wednesday to Sunday.

“The Farm Shop is a perfect fit for us,” says Nick. “The store attracts discerning food lovers who want to know where their food comes from and that it’s the best quality available. We farm and butcher the beef ourselves, so customers know that what they are buying has come directly from the Green Meadows Beef farm. On top of that, the superior care our animals receive means the beef has a better colour, taste and texture than anything you will find in a regular supermarket.”

The Carey family founded Green Meadows Beef after realising that the best New Zealand beef is exported and never made available to the local market. Animals are reared ethically and fed their natural diet of grass. They receive the best of care, which includes drinking household quality water from troughs filled by the local Cold Creek community water scheme.

As well as being stocked in more stores, Green Meadows Beef is available online at www.greenmeadowsbeef.co.nz. A number of shopping options are available, from 5kg boxes to larger 20kg packs and custom cuts. The beef is delivered free of charge, directly from the farm to the front door.

Green Meadows Beef will be holding a public barbeque tasting session at Farro Fresh Mt Wellington on Friday, 27 September between 10:30am and 2:00pm.

About Green Meadows Beef
Green Meadows Beef is a New Zealand, family owned producer of 100% grass-fed Angus beef. The Carey family founded Green Meadows Beef in 2012 after realising that a large amount of the best New Zealand beef is exported and never made available to New Zealanders. Green Meadows Beef is a family effort, led by Michael and Margy Carey, and their sons, Nick, Brent and Karl Carey.

After 30 years in the New Zealand dairy industry, Michael was drawn to the opportunities presented by farming premium grass-fed beef. His extensive knowledge of animal management is complemented by Nick Carey’s business and marketing expertise.
