‘Word of Mouse’ to Drive NZ Business Growth

‘Word of Mouse’ to Drive NZ Business Growth

Localist Launches New Digital Marketing Offerings

Auckland, 11 November 2013 - Localist today announced a raft of new digital marketing offerings to propel Kiwi businesses into the digital age.

‘Localist for Business’ is a complete digital marketing solution, simplifying digital for busy business owners. CEO Christina Domecq says Localist partners with businesses to help them tell their story to customers, build an online community and start transacting with the people that love their business.

“Anecdotally we know that 55% of Kiwi businesses are not online, but 85% of buying decisions are made by researching the web for recommendations and information. Localist is on a mission to get more businesses connecting with customers by embracing digital.

“Localist has everything that businesses need to be successful in a digital space - from our free offering for every local business, through to website creation, Google AdWords and advertising management, comprehensive social media management, and photo and video shoots.

Localist is underway with a nationwide rollout, and sees its new business offerings, recommendation website and app as an economic enabler for regional New Zealand.

“To put it simply, we’re here to help small businesses earn more money whether it’s by driving traffic in store, building online sales or boosting phone enquiries. It all stems from being recommended by people who love what the business offers.

Ms Domecq says recommendations from trusted friends are far more powerful for a business than a review or a listing.

“We have listened to our customers and re-engineered the Localist platform from the ground-up. We’re creating an online community that connects the best local businesses with people who love to discover and recommend locally.

“92% of people trust recommendations from their peers. Localist is a ‘word of mouse’ platform with trust and authenticity as its foundations.

“Currently in beta, recommendations on the new Localist platform are grouped into easy to use Lists, enabling people to find what’s best in their neighbourhood, or what the locals recommend if you’re new to town,” she says.

“For small business owners, Localist lets them do business how and where they want, with a team of digital experts backing them up at every step. We’re absolutely passionate about showcasing the very best of local and championing digital growth for New Zealand,” says Ms Domecq.

Recognition for Localist’s achievements was made last week with it winning the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award at the Auckland Central Business Awards. Localist also took out the Excellence in Innovation Award.
