Cigna New Zealand names new CEO

Health, Life & Accident insurer Cigna New Zealand has appointed Lance Walker as its new Chief Executive Officer based in Wellington. He succeeds Gail Costa who was promoted to CEO for Developed and Developing Markets for Cigna International in Hong Kong last year.

Walker has over 20 years of specialist experience in direct, database, and customer relationship marketing. He is the former Managing Director of the Wellington office of direct marketing agency AIM Proximity, and in 2003 set up his own relationship marketing consultancy which later became part of the Rapp Collins global network. He served as the joint Managing Director of the Rapp New Zealand office until mid-2008.

Most recently, Walker served as the CEO of Loyalty New Zealand which operates the highly successful Fly Buys loyalty programme. He joined the company in 2008 to set up its new Customer Insights and Analytics business unit, and was appointed CEO in 2010.

“Lance’s recognised experience in the direct and customer relationship marketing space, as well as his knowledge of what drives customer behaviour and his passion for developing strong customer relationships, will be of great benefit to Cigna as it continues to build and grow its business in New Zealand,” says Gail Costa.

Walker started in his new role on 31 March.
