New campaign targets West Australian visitors
Canterbury is the focus of a new a campaign to entice West Australians to fly direct to Christchurch and experience New Zealand’s best.
Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism (CCT) is joining forces with partners including Tourism New Zealand, Air New Zealand and Christchurch International Airport to inspire more West Australians to visit the region this season.
Following the success of last summer’s inaugural direct Perth to Christchurch service, Air New Zealand will recommence twice weekly direct flights between the two cities, running from 13 December until 25 April 2015.
CCT General Manager Marketing, Rowan Townsend says she is excited about this season’s campaign in Perth, which starts today, 3 November.
“We are building on the excellent results of last year’s campaign and leveraging Tourism New Zealand’s successful ‘Every day a different journey’ theme to give West Australians lots of reasons to come over and explore our landscapes and hidden gems,” she says.
“Last summer’s direct Air New Zealand service was hugely popular and we see big opportunities for more growth in both business and leisure visitor numbers from the prosperous Western Australia market.”
Experiences highlighted in this campaign include Canterbury’s Kaikoura wildlife, Akaroa township, the Mackenzie night sky, Lake Pukaki, the Glacier Explorer Experience, Aoraki Mount Cook national park, KiwiRail train journeys, plus the Marlborough region and Wellington city.
“We’re showing West Australians the diversity of the experiences we have on offer using strong visual cues in a mix of print, TV, out of home, cinema, digital and social media,” Rowan Townsend says.
The campaign is a joint marketing venture between Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism, Tourism New Zealand, Christchurch International Airport, Destination Marlborough, Positively Wellington Tourism, Air New Zealand, KiwiRail, Interislander and Flight Centre.
