World Masters Games announces Pita Pit as official partner

World Masters Games 2017 announces Pita Pit as official partner

Healthy, nutritious food will be on the menu for athletes, supporters and volunteers at World Masters Games 2017 with the announcement of Pita Pit as the Official Quick Service Restaurant Partner for the Games.

A key part of Pita Pit’s partnership with World Masters Games 2017 will be catering for the thousands of Games volunteers who will be required to help organisers deliver the event.

Chief Executive of World Masters Games 2017, Jennah Wootten, says Pita Pit is a great fit as a commercial partner and its role feeding volunteers each day will be significant. “We will have a lot of mouths to feed in 2017 and are delighted Pita Pit is stepping up to offer our volunteers, athletes and supporters convenient and healthy food and beverage options.

“Their extensive network of outlets throughout the Auckland region makes them very accessible and we are delighted they have plans to open a Cambridge outlet so we will be able to offer the same quick service restaurant option for the two sports based there,” says Ms Wootten.

Pita Pit, one of the Deloitte’s 2014 Fast 50 New Zealand companies, is on a major growth trajectory and Director Duane Dalton says the partnership with World Masters Games 2017 provides a great opportunity to broaden its reach as part of that growth. “We currently have 72 outlets throughout New Zealand, 39 of which are in the Auckland region, and we have plans to open more than 15 new outlets in 2015 including eight more in Auckland.

“We also have a very real interest in aligning healthy eating with sports and our quick service restaurants offer healthy and tasty food, including gluten free and halal options,” says Mr Dalton. “Athletes can eat themselves happy.”

Pita Pit is the Official Nutrition Partner for Netball NZ and the Silver Ferns, a sponsor of Tennis NZ’s Hot Shots junior programme, as well as numerous local store and individual athlete sponsorships.

The announcement of Pita Pit as a commercial partner for World Masters Games 2017 follows the announcement a year ago of leading Auckland property company, Barfoot & Thompson, as presenting partner and the December 2014 announcement of SKYCITY as a strategic partner.

“We are delighted with the support we are receiving from our new and existing partners, each of whom has a significant role to play in helping us deliver a sports festival of which Auckland and New Zealand will be very proud,” says Ms Wootten.
