Strong Growth Continues in 1st Half for Bunnings

Bunnings, New Zealand’s leading home improvement and outdoor living products business today announced its sales results for the half-year ended 31 December 2014.

Strong revenue growth of 12.6% was achieved for the half, lifting sales on an annualised basis to NZD865.3m.

General Manager, Bunnings New Zealand, Jacqui Coombes, said that strong sales growth occurred across both north and south islands, and sales were achieved in both consumer and commercial areas, and within all merchandising categories.

"This strong trading performance is a direct outcome of a strategic agenda, where we have focused on long-term value creation by strengthening core business components plus focusing on a range of growth drivers".

"We continue to invest in our business for the future. Significant progress is being made in each of our identified growth drivers. These drivers include areas such as delivering more customer value and better customer experiences, extending our brand reach, merchandising innovation, and expanding our commercial business."

In the past six months two trade centres have opened in Hornby and Avondale. Construction of a new Bunnings Warehouse in New Lynn is progressing well and there are plans to open more stores across New Zealand as Bunnings continues to invest for the long term.

At the end of 2014 Bunnings employed over 3700 Team Members across 24 Warehouses, 20 Small Format Stores and 5 Trade Centres.
