Drive Safe with Novotel Queenstown Lakeside

Drive Safe with Novotel Queenstown Lakeside

18 March 2015: Enjoy New Zealand safely is the message Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is giving to its guests following the launch of a new Drive Safe initiative within the hotel. Road safety videos, additional training of staff and drive safe handouts are all part of the hotel’s effort to ensure that their guests are confident to drive safely on New Zealand roads.

In what the hotel believes is a first for a New Zealand hotel, Front Office Manager Debbie Clark has worked closely with the Tourism Industry Association (TIA) and Tourism services company Whytewaters to launch the project. Novotel will be showcasing TIA’s Drive Safe video on a dedicated local attractions TV channel available in every guest room. Drive Safe handouts will also be distributed throughout the public areas of the hotel and at the concierge desk.

“Many of our guests self-drive and we recognise that New Zealand roads can be different compared to what some of our guests have experienced before. It is up to all of us in the tourism industry to encourage safe driving practices for all guests to the region – both international guests and New Zealanders so that we can all experience our beautiful country safely,” says Novotel General Manager Jim Moore.

TIA Chief Executive Chris Roberts has congratulated Novotel Queenstown Lakeside for its positive contribution to its guests’ safety and is encouraging other tourism operators to follow its lead.

“Improving road safety is a responsibility for all those who interact with visitors to New Zealand. Driving is a great way to enjoy all New Zealand has to offer but we have to do all we can to keep both our visitors and New Zealand road users safe,” Mr Roberts says.
