Adventure & outdoor conference focusing on the future

Adventure & outdoor conference focusing on the future

Adventure and outdoor tourism operators will have the opportunity to focus on growing their sector at a one-day conference in July, the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA) says.

The Great Adventure 2015, the only conference specifically for New Zealand’s adventure and outdoor tourism sector, will take place in Wellington on 2-3 July 2015. Registrations open today at www.tianz.org.nz/main/The_Great_Adventure_2015

Now in its third year, The Great Adventure will focus on growing a strong and unified sector that succeeds and leads at every level from safety to profitability.

“The programme provides opportunities for participants to gather insight on building quality businesses, to meet and talk with key individuals in government agencies, and to share experiences with their peers,” TIA Chief Executive Chris Roberts says.

“We have a great line-up of speakers who will bring our Grow - Lead - Succeed theme to life.”

The programme will begin with a networking function hosted by the Department of Conservation (DOC) on the evening of Thursday 2 July, followed by a full day of presentations and workshops on Friday 3 July at Rydges Wellington.

Keynote speaker Michael Henderson will focus on developing and sustaining a strong business culture, a crucial ingredient for long term success.

Other speakers include representatives from WorkSafe New Zealand, Maritime New Zealand, DOC, the Civil Aviation Authority, Lane Neave Lawyers, Tourism New Zealand and Quality Tourism Development.

“We are really excited about the strong and relevant speaker programme. There is something for everyone and I’m sure every adventure tourism operator will take away valuable tips for their business,” Mr Roberts says.

Early bird registrations are available until Friday 29 May. TIA members qualify for a preferential rate and any operator bringing more than one person to the event will qualify for additional savings.
