Wellington’s own Huffman’s Sauces Reigns Supreme at the 2015 World Hot Sauce Awards

Huffman’s Sauces was named World Champion winning Gold in the Pepper Blend category at this year’s World Hot Sauce Awards.

The American-based World Hot Sauce Awards are considered the most prestigious and coveted Chilli awards in the world. Over 1000 products were entered by 213 companies representing 13 Countries at the ceremony held in Louisianaon Friday (CST – 1pm Sat NZ time).

Huffman’s Sauces faced fierce competition in the hotly contested Hot Sauce Division and were awarded GOLD and the title of World Champion in the Pepper Blend category for their Huffman’s Chilli Pepper Hot Sauce - described asan unashamedly robust blend of sun-ripened sweet peppers, distilled white vinegar, and pure sea salt imbued with the warmth of red chillies and smoked Spanish Paprika.

The sauce is the namesake of creator and master chef Nicholas Huffman who is credited for placing the Matterhorn on the map along with many of Wellingtons top dining venues. Nick trained in Paris, and has worked in kitchens in America, South Africa and South East Asia. Closer to home he was Head Chefof Huka Lodge and has cooked for European royalty, A-list Hollywood actors and local legends, as well as his kids at home!
