The NZ Employment numbers for Q2 have just been released

The NZ Employment numbers for Q2 have just been released.

They came in slightly worse than expected overall.

NZ Employment data for Q2 was:

- Employment (Q/Q) 0.3% (consensus +0.5%)
- Employment (Y/Y) 3.0% (consensus +3.4%)
- Unemployment Rate 5.9% (consensus 5.9%)
- Participation Rate 69.3% (consensus 69.6%)

In addition, Private Ordinary Time Wages were +0.5%/+1.8% (Q/Y), which are both as expected.

The NZD is lower in immediate response.

Current indicative levels are:

NZD-USD 0.6515 / 0.6540
NZD-AUD 0.8840 / 0.8865
NZD-EUR 0.5985 / 0.6010
NZD-GBP 0.4185 / 0.4210
NZD-JPY 81.05 / 81.30

The highly influential US non-farm payroll employments numbers will be released Friday night.
