Countdown Hobsonville now open

Countdown Hobsonville now open

17 September 2015: Countdown has today opened the doors to its newest store – Countdown Hobsonville.

The new 3,860sqm store was officially opened today by Councillor Linda Cooper in an event that also featured a kapa haka performance by Hobsonville Primary School and a presentation of a trolley of food to the local Salvation Army representatives.

Countdown Hobsonville Store Manager Andre Ciseau says he’s excited to be leading the team at the new store.

“We’ve been working really hard to get ready for opening day. The store looks great and is a testament to my team and the effort they have put in over the last few months.

“We’re really excited about being open for business and are looking forward to getting to know our new customers and being an important part of this fantastic community,” Mr Ciseau says.

Councillor Linda Cooper, who opened the store, says Countdown Hobsonville is a great addition to the area.

“Successive Councils in this area have been working for some years on enabling these sorts of developments and our local residents have been waiting a very long time for a new and convenient place to shop.”

“It’s fantastic to see this new store open – not only because the community has a new supermarket, but also because it has brought 50 jobs to the area as well,” Councillor Cooper says.

Countdown’s General Manager of Operations, Brett Ashley says the store shows the business’s continued commitment to investing in the growing region of Auckland and creating jobs.

“Countdown Hobsonville will be the second store we have opened in Auckland this year so far and will be a welcome addition to this community. The opening of this store has also created 50 new jobs - this is in addition to the 5,370 people we already employ in the Auckland region,” Mr Ashley says.

The new $15 million store is a new-generation format and features energy efficient fixtures and fittings, full service deli, seafood and bakery departments as well as a sushi bar and self-service checkouts.
