Countdown recognised as Good Business Egg

Countdown recognised as Good Business Egg

22 April 2016: Countdown has been recognised as a Good Business Egg, winning the Health and Wellbeing category at last night’s Business and Community Shares’ (BACS) annual awards.

The awards, which aim to showcase the best of excellent community investment by businesses throughout New Zealand, are decided by experienced community leaders.

Head of Corporate Affairs, James Walker, who accepted the award on Countdown’s behalf, says the recognition will mean a lot to the business’ 18,000 team members.

“Our team are passionate about being active in their local communities and do a lot of great work to get behind the causes Countdown supports. Receiving the Health and Wellbeing award is fantastic recognition of their efforts.

“Countdown is big on health and wellbeing and support a number of charities and programmes which encourage that. Our annual Countdown Kids Hospital Appeal, Food Rescue Programme, Free Fruit for Kids initiative and support of Alzheimers New Zealand are some examples of that.

“The BACS Good Business Egg awards are a great way to encourage businesses in New Zealand to take an active role in their communities and we are looking forward to taking part next year.”

BACS Director, Julie Donvin-Irons, says, "Countdown have made a consistent effort to work with their local communities and support causes that will make a difference for a wide range of people, which is exactly what our judges are looking for in the award finalists.
