Generate KiwiSaver Scheme

Generate KiwiSaver Scheme

Wednesday 11th May 2016

New milestone

The Generate KiwiSaver Scheme has notched up another major milestone by hitting $200 million of funds under management. Henry Tongue, Generate’s CEO said: “Generate is very grateful for the support from all its members and advisers in reaching this milestone. The level of growth stemming from ‘word of mouth’ has been phenomenal and we are working harder than ever to keep up the high level of service.”

Strong returns

Research firm FundSource recently released its March quarter performance tables. The tables confirmed Generate’s strong performance against its peers. The Generate Growth and Focused Growth Funds were first and second placed for 2 year returns out of 25 diversified growth funds. In addition, the Generate Conservative Fund was placed second for its 2 year return out of 23 diversified defensive funds. Sam Goldwater, Generate’s Portfolio Manager said: “It is great to repay the confidence our members have placed in Generate. We take the responsibility of managing their retirement savings very seriously. It’s unrealistic to think we will be topping the tables every year but our focus remains on trying to achieve strong risk adjusted returns for our members.”

Rapid growth

Many New Zealanders are waking up to the benefits of Generate. With approximately 3,000 new members last quarter, Generate is growing faster than some of the big Australian bank owned KiwiSaver schemes.

Educating New Zealanders about KiwiSaver

One of Generate's points of difference is that their advisers take the time to sit down and walk clients through the benefits of KiwiSaver and help them find a fund that suits them. Clients find the process highly valuable with many moving out of low returning default funds into more age and risk appropriate funds at Generate. As a result Generate has a vastly lower percentage of its members in its Conservative Fund relative to the market.
