LGNZ welcomes Tourism Infrastructure boost for the
regions
LGNZ President, Lawrence Yule, today
welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement of a new
Regional Mid-sized Tourism Facilities Fund.
The announcement of $12 million over four years funding line will assist local authorities facing infrastructure stress from the current tourism boom.
Mr Yule says, “Although this is a welcomed boost, LGNZ will continue to advocate for more long-term and sustainable funding for tourism infrastructure.”
“Going forward, it will be important that visitors pay their fair share for use of facilities provided by councils to support New Zealand’s successful tourism industry,” concluded Mr Yule.
