Hauraki Plains Business Network Launch a Successful Evening.

Hauraki Plains Business Network Launch a Successful Evening.

On the 4th of May the HPBN hosted its first networking event in the Ngatea Hall lounge. The event was well attended with over 50 attendees. The evening provided an opportunity to outline the current plans for the Positively Promoting the Plains group and the HPBN. We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making it such a successful evening.

Alex Quinn opened the evening explaining the development and role of the PPP in supporting vibrant communities on the Plains. This was followed with an opportunity for each person to introduce themselves and their business. It was eye opening to find out what businesses we have quietly working away on the Plains from Solar Power and Luxury Boat Builders in Pipiroa, World Class Taekwon-Do trainers in Waitakaruru, Luxury Macadamia Nut producers in Patetonga and an Antique furniture restorer operating in the heart of Ngatea.

The Mayor John Tregidga then spoke about the industrial renaissance happening in Kerepehi and the excellent progress being made on the Kopu to Kaiaua cycleway. The ability of the council to help businesses with the partnership between Waikato Innovation Park and the Hauraki District Council. To facilitate this Peter Davey was there from WIP and was able to provide valuable information to attendees on the services they can provide to help businesses grow.

Jason Davis then spoke about the vision for the HPBN and how we can contribute to making it a success. The vision is “To support a strong and vibrant business community on the Hauraki Plains. The network is there to provide support for businesses it is also a central hub where you can contact for help in marketing your business and liaising with council. The first stage was the launch of the network and to provide an opportunity for people to network with each other and see how they can do business with their neighbours on the Plains. Following events are planned along a similar format with a mixture of business and community speakers culminating in a Hauraki Plains Business Awards evening to celebrate the success so far being achieved on the Plains. Congratulations to Brian Wigmore from Wigmore General Carriers Turua who won the prize of a signed Chiefs jersey for attending on the night.

Next was an open forum for the speakers to answer questions on the direction that they would like to see for the Plains. This was facilitated by Alex Quinn and involved the announcement for new signage is coming shortly for both Ngatea and the Hauraki Plains. New Flags have been ordered for the Plains towns. There was a commitment from the Mayor to improve the entranceways to the towns and villages on the Plains including the mowing of entranceway berms to give a tidier impression. The PPP will also be shortly launching an updated website and online business directory. The PPP also run the Facebook page TheHaurakiPlains which you can like to receive regular news and updates for the Plains.
